Head Coach Randy Love graduated from Garland HS in 1975 as a three year letterman in football, basketball, and track. He was selected into the all district team each year and received the "Most Athletic" Award in his senior year. He attended the University of Houston on an obvious Athletics Scholarship form 1975 to 1979. While and U.H, he helped his team to receive the Southwest Conference Title twice which earned the team a way into the Cotton Bowl. He was also selected to the All Southwest Conference Team. In addition, he was inducted into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. After leaving college, Coach Love played professional NFL football for the St. Louis Cardinals for seven years. When his professional career ended, he chose to come back to Garland to coach and teach. He later returned to college at Texas A&M Commerce. He has been coaching and teaching in Garland ISD for more than 18 years. While working at Naaman Forest HS, Coach Love coached the JV and Varsity Football, track, and basketball teams. In the Spring 2005, Coach Love chose to return to his roots at Garland High School. He wanted to teach the young boys who play for him what the value is of hard work, integrity, and commitment.

School.  Scott graduated from The University of Texas at Austin

Where he majored in History and minored in Government. 

He is a 2000 graduate of Tuloso-Midway High School in Corpus

Christi, Texas.

Coach Goellner comes to Garland from Rockwall, Texas. A graduate of Rockwall High School in 1999 and four year letterman in basketball, Coach Goellner then played two years of NCAA backetball at Abilene Christian University, where he had All-Conference honors, then transferred to Texas State University- San Marcos (formerly Southwest Texas State University) to finish his basketball career. Coach Goellner graduated in 2004 with his wife, Diana, whom he married in 2003. They have a daughter, Madison and a son, Hudson. They currently reside in Plano, Texas. Coach Goellner has coaching experience at numerous NCAA basketball camps, and at Community Middle School in Nevada, Texas were they won district. He believes in a teaching style of coaching, and a “winning attitude” on and off the court. He wants for his players to grow into successful men in life.

Coach Telly Bernard is a young man growing up in Mesquite, Texas where he attended West Mesquite High School. His parents Shelia and Clement Bernard were very essential in his life. His parents are very education driven and they instilled these same values of education in him growing up. Telly’s education consists of earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Methodist University in Fayette, MO. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in San Antonio, Texas. Tell’ys coaching career in basketball began as a graduate assistant coach at St. Mary’s University from 1999-2001. He also coached at Lancaster High School as the freshman boys’ basketball coach where they won a District title and held a record of 23 wins and 5 losses in 2004 to 2005. He also coached at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas as an assistant men’s basketball coach from 2005-2006. Telly is looking forward to his second season with Garland as the freshman boys’ basketball coach and hopes to not only win games but be a good reflection for his players on and off the court. He is also happy to be a part of a great coaching and administrative staff.

Coach John Wayne (J.W.) Willeford graduated from Naaman Forest High School in 1998. At naaman, he was 1st Team All District, Academic All State, and team Co-MVP. He went on to play two years at Richland Community College, where he was part of the 1998-99 NJCAA National Championship Team. He then attended Dallas Baptist University where he met his wife, Sherah Elaine. They were married on January 18, 2003. The Willeford’s graduated from DBU in 2004. They have two sons, Nolan and Benjamin. Coach Willeford has coached boys and girls on all levels in AAU. This will be his fourth year at Garland High School. He looks forward to helping the Garland Owls make the playoffs this year. Another goal for this year is to make a positive impact in the lives of the young men in the program.
